    Hours:

    • Between 20 and 40 hours per week
    • Between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

     

    Location:

    1314 Douglas Street (Omaha World-Herald Building)

     

    We have an immediate opportunity for a programming intern within our Software Development Department.  This role will work closely with the development team. 

     

    During this internship, the student will gain experience in the following:

    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Microsoft .NET
    • Microsoft BI Tools
    • Business practices
    • Data reporting via SQL queries
    • Additional experience may be gained in the following areas:
      • Web Services
      • Process Documentation

     

    Duties may include:

    • Querying/Compiling/Analyzing data to assist in testing, marketing, and management reports
    • Developing and testing data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) processes
    • Updating existing software and databases
    • Developing windows based and/or web based software
    • Troubleshooting errors and testing existing software to confirm fixes
    • Communicating with co-workers in order to understand software and business requirements

    Qualifications

    • Major/minor in computer science, MIS, or other quantitative related field
    • Basic experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
    • Ability to think critically and reason
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Work with detail with accuracy
